Abstract

Jusmain, Handling Work Accidents on Transshipment Tugboats guided by Capt.Rachmat Tjahjanto, M.M., M.Mar. and Capt. Aries Allolayuk, M.Pd, M.Mar. Work safety is an effort to prevent work accidents related to work tools, materials and processing processes, the work place and the environment, as well as procedures for carrying out work by minimizing any errors that occur which can result in work accidents, especially when the ship is carrying out work processes in Bad weather conditions where work is at great risk can result in an accident on board the ship. This research is based on an incident that the author experienced while working on a ship which occurred on August 21 2022, where the ship experienced an accident which caused injuries to the hands and fainting of one of the ship's crew members while TB.WINNING PIONEER 53 was carrying out work to sailing from Loading Point to the Nunes River in rough weather conditions/big waves, without realizing that the rope used suddenly swung which resulted in hitting a crew member of the ship. Aim: To further optimize the implementation of work safety system procedures when ships carry out towing operations in bad weather conditions in order to avoid accidents that could happen to crew members who are working on the deck so that the author can analyze the causes of the main problem sources and find the right solution to be able to resolve problems to help reduce and overcome incidents that endanger work safety for crew members on board ships. The conclusion is that the cause of work accidents when installing towing rope protectors in bad weather is the human resource factor which lacks understanding of how to work correctly in terms of correct and safe standing positions when working to install rope protectors in bad weather conditions.
