Abstract

AHMAD NUGRAHA, The Role of Tugboat for Alongside the MV MEITA MARU at the Port (Supervised by Sukirno and Haerani Asri) The role of tugs in the motion of the ship when berthing is the most vital, to speed up and facilitate the process of motion berthing at the Port. This study aims to understand the perception of officers regarding the assistance of tugs in leaning the ship, It also minimizes the occurrence of hazards in the process of motion. This research was qualitative approached to primary data throughout observation and recording of data related to the process of Berthing ship, and interview with the Pilot, Master, and the Officers at MV. Meita Maru. Data took by direct while researcher on board. The hypothesis proved by the researcher that the auxiliary factor in the process of effective docked vessel process with the help of tugboat was communication. This study giving lessons to cadets that in the process of ship mooring, the role of tugs and communication between ships are crucial in order to avoid the danger of collision.
