Abstract

LOIS PAEMAN , 2020 Analysis of Declining Injector Performance on Diesel Motor Combustion Process on MV Ships. ESTUARI MAS (Supervised by Drs. PAULUS PONGKESSU, MT and Ir. YOSRIHARD BASONGAN, M.T). The injector is a device that functions to atomize or spray fuel into the combustion chamber. This misting is carried out by injection with high pressure. The amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber is regulated by the fuel intake. Whether or not the fuel enters the cylinder is determined by the performance of the injectors. If the injector sprays fuel in the form of a mist it will facilitate combustion in the cylinder. This research was carried out on board the MV.ESTUARI MAS. One of the ships belonging to the company PT. TEMAS SHIPPING for one year. Sources of data obtained directly at the time of conducting research in a direct way, interviews with the machinists on board, and literature related to the research. Based on the author's experience while on board the MV. Estuari Mas, the author found a problem related to the injector, namely the clogged hole in the nozzle and dripping of fuel on the nozzle.
