Abstract

AMIRAH SAHBRINA ADINDA NAFA, Analysis of Garbage Management at MT. KRASAK (supervised by Mr. Suwarno Waldjoto & Mr. Abdillah SAS.). The many cases of marine pollution that occur are one indication of the need for improvements in waste handling on ships during shipping. The author realizes that the crew has an important role in handling waste on ships in order to avoid marine pollution. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the role of the crew in implementing waste management on ships. The purpose of the study is to determine the role of the crew with the waste problems that occur on ships. With a qualitative research method that produces descriptive data, the implementation of Garbage Management can be described clearly and realistically because the data is obtained from direct observations carried out during the author's research and supported by literature studies that provide a clearer picture of the information conveyed. Furthermore, the data analysis stage is carried out starting from data reduction, describing the results of the study, to drawing conclusions. The author's findings during the research were: (1) the ship's crew had implemented the Garbage Management Plan properly in accordance with the procedures in MARPOL 73/78 Annex V (2) the waste grouping had been carried out according to the types and categories of each according to the rules set out in MARPOL 73/78 Annex V Keywords: Annex V, Marpol 73/78, Waste Handling.
